My Poem - The Dead Bride

-By xRawrEllie

The moonlight shines down upon the ground she walks As her white dress trails behind Her veil covers her pale face, powdery like chalk And I stare in wonder; what was going through her mind? Slowly she turns, and throws a look in my direction And what expression showed, I could not tell Her lips were rosey, and for one minute I thought 'perfection' Yet at the same time, it was like being in Hell

She turns away from me, towards the Graveyard Her ice-cold hands tight around a rose She looks so blank, though she feels so scarred Her true feelings hidden beneath her clothes I could sense what she was feeling; rejection, pain And I could see it stretched right to the bone As the dark night shattered, pouring with rain She was so lost and empty, feeling so alone

As she opens the gate, the dead leaves crunch under her feet And it's the only sound that lingers in the air Until it fades into faint footsteps walking along concrete The whoosh of the wind blowing through her hair She walks for hours, still clutching the red rose And I am not sure what her purpose may be Though soon enough, she's in a place she obviously knows And she sits on the old swing, tied to a tree

She hums the last words she ever said, As she loosens her grip, the rose silently falling by her side "I'll set my blood free; run like a river red, For I am nothing but The Dead Bride"
